Big 12 notes: Wall’s big hit, a red-hot receiver and a North showdown(0)

November 16, 2009

It didn’t affect the outcome of the game, but it might have been the highlight of Oklahoma State’s 24-17 win over Texas Tech on Saturday. And it was one of the hottest topics during Monday’s Big 12 coaches conference call.
In case you missed it – or haven’t seen it on YouTube – I’m referring to [...]

Big 12 notes: Wall’s big hit, a red-hot receiver and a North showdown

Tech still has the Stillwater blues

STILLWATER, Okla. – There must be something about Boone Pickens Stadium that brings out the worst in Texas Tech.
The Red Raiders suffered their fourth consecutive loss here Saturday night, falling 24-17 in a game they had every opportunity to win but couldn’t for one reason or another.  There were three interceptions – the last of [...]

It’s over, folks: Tech falls short

STILLWATER, Okla. – Taylor Potts tried to rally the Red Raiders one more time, but they couldn’t get past midfield. Tramain Swindall dropped a pass right to him on fourth down with 16 seconds left, sealing Oklahoma State’s 24-17 win.
I’ll have more later, but now I’ve got to hustle down to the postgame interview room.

Tech still has a chance thanks to big hit by Wall

STILLWATER, Okla. – Just when it looked like Oklahoma State was about to put the game away, senior cornerback Jamar Wall made a huge play for Texas Tech.
OSU quarterback Zac Robinson scrambled to the Tech 5-yard line, where Wall delivered a huge hit that jarred the ball loose. Brandon Sharpe recovered at the 12 for [...]

Maybe Leach should have stuck with Potts

STILLWATER, Okla. – There’s been yet another surprising turn of events, folks.
Taylor Potts, who was benched midway through the second quarter, has sparked Texas Tech upon his return. He just led a five-play, 80-yard touchdown drive, completing a 24-yard scoring pass to Edward Britton that cut Tech’s deficit to 24-17 with seven minutes remaining.
Baron Batch [...]

Sticks is done, and so is Tech

STILLWATER, Okla. – Well, so much for Steven Sheffield leading a comeback. He just threw an interception to Patrick Lavine, who returned it 21 yards for a touchdown to give Oklahoma State a 24-10 lead with eight minutes left.
Taylor Potts re-entered the game on the ensuing possession, so now it’s up to him again.

Defense finally gets it done, so now it’s Sheffield’s turn

STILLWATER, Okla. – The Texas Tech defense just got its first stop of the second half, so the Red Raiders are very much in this one with 8:38 remaining.
But Steven Sheffield and the offense must snap out of its funk, and in a hurry.
Regardless of what happens, it’s been a gutsy performance by Sticks. He’s [...]

Not looking good for Raiders

STILLWATER, Okla. – Texas Tech’s offense managed only one first down on its first possession of the fourth quarter, so it’s worn-out defense is now back on the field with 10 minutes left and Oklahoma State leading 17-10.
Even worse, Steven Sheffield appeared to aggravate the left foot injury that caused him to miss two games. [...]
