Leach testifying under oath about December events

By Matthew McGowan | Lubbock Avalanche-Journal

Mike Leach, Texas Tech’s former football coach, is in downtown Lubbock today testifying under oath about the events that led up to his firing in December. Sitting in on the deposition are Leach, his attorneys, Tech President Guy Bailey and several members of the university’s legal team. Leach did not comment to reporters as he entered the deposition room at about 9 a.m. The A-J will continue following this story.

Looking forward to the end of this fiasco. I am not happy with the entire mess or the childish behavior here of grown men in the middle of it all. I appreciate the support of Team Leach for our former HC but our athletes deserve and need the support of Raider Nation. Put the negativity aside as quickly as possible and move in positive ways towards change.

This whole situation is so sad in so many ways from the excitement at the Texas game and after here in Lubbock to this. As a lifelong supporter of Tech from Weaver to now . Lubbock and Tech has never seen anything as ugly as this and it probably will get worse. I truly hope that the truth in all this matter finally will come out and Tech and Lubbock go on. Let justice be done. All of this has brought a blackeye to Lubbock and Tech. Allof this was handled wrong and comes down to power and money.

Finally, this issue is moving toward an end. Many people think that Leach was wrong and probably an equal number feel that the actions of an inept and corrupt administration led by chancellor Hance is responsible for this mess. After this issue is settled, someone needs to tackle the administration and get rid of the retired inept politicains that governor perry saddled Tech with.

We’ll see, I’ll bet Leech gets nothing and the school is cleared as having done the right thing. Other than that, Leech settles out of court for at least something. At this point I’d pay him just to go away. He is no longer a Red Raider and for that reason I’m done with him. I don’t care if he was done wrong, he pissed my family off, I stand with my family,(School).

If we don’t get rid of the three stooges and the james gang, as well as participating regents it won’t matter who the coach is the fools will screw it up again. Yes the players will suffer but not from what the coach did. Coach Leach was hired to coach football….he did that very well…better than any of the previous coaches. He made football fun, and had everyone talking about our team and school…that kind of press coverage was worth its weight in gold……..but the fools at the top wanted a lap dog like themselves….who kiss but& first and do the job second. Meyer was a loser when I was there and has only perfected the art. Maybe Hance should have lunch with BK and have an attitude adjustment. James family should be run out of state……noone has done more to destroy Texas football. Coach Leach is gone, and I wish him the best. Tubby is our coach and I wish him the best (I only hope he had no part in this). I hope Craig and gang get what they deserve. Adam move to Berkley you will fit in….not sports only entitled brats.

Assuming time has caused people to forget, he called in some political favors from fellow UT friends and got put in charge of Tech so he could again cheat the good people of Lubbock and the area. He became all this AFTER being a student at UT. How dare I link him to UT? Facts is facts.

Golfwoody, that is a pretty good summary. The only thing missing is that chancellor (republican lobbyist) Hance bought a number of inept unemployed politicians with him like Alberto (I can’t remember) Gonzales and wasted good money on their ridiculous salaries that could have been used by Tech for much more productive things such as scholarships etc.

feaco, you keep bringing up Gonzales. Gonzales had nothing to do with Leach being fired. If you really get to know him (Alberto) you might have a different opinion. He’s very successful….. Maybe that’s what bothers you. Alberto most likely could buy and sell you many times over. When it comes to Gonzales, you think very small.

And Leach does need to apologize. He’s done major damage to a great school. He’s hurt all the kids he recruited, not just Adam. Locking an injured kid in a shed was not a brilliant thing to do.

After all, if he claimed that Adam was faking the concussion, then one would conclude that Leach was implying that no such concussion existed within Leaches medical diagnosis of the student. I thought that leeches in medical practice was never condoned on the Tech campus. To get Leach out of our hair, the State of Texas could agree to set aside the unlicensed medical malpractice criminal charges, if he leaves the State of Texas, and has nothing whatsoever to do with any Texas agency, institute, personnel, or patrons thereof.

How many times do you need to read it was not a shed and the door was not locked. Being placed in a dark air conditioned very large room was not harmful to this cry baby. How anyone can see this spoiled kid as a victim is ridiculous. Leach may not be orthodox but he did not deserve to be treated by TTU the way he was. To apologize would have admitted guilt and you know what Craig James’ next move would have been-lawsuit. Leach knew better than to apologize for something he did not do. Craig will not sue Leach because he knows he will lose. There is no medical evidence or testimony that his baby was in any danger or injured. But there is evidence and testimony that he attempted to unduly influence TTU into firing Leach. Craig may be the one answering a lawsuit. Sure employees must follow the instructions of their employers but not to the extent that you compromise your own integrity and set yourself up for legal action. A Leach victory is a victory for all of the employees at TTU that work under this administration. Hopefully several of them will be fired and a closer look will be taken into their administrative practices. This case goes beyond the football field for TTU. If any apologies are offered this weekend they should come from Craig James for not allowing his son to grow up and face the consequences of his own actions.
