Texas Tech tennis player Raony Carvalho earned the wild card spot Thursday for the ITA National Indoor Collegiate Championships, which will be held Nov. 5-8 in West Haven, Conn.

Carvalho, a sophomore from Brazil, is the 25th-ranked men’s singles player in the nation. He’s compiled a 7-2 record in two tournaments this fall, with three victories against top-30 opponents.

Carvalho is just the second singles player from Tech to earn a spot in the ITA national championships. Bojan Szumanski competed in 2004 and 2006.
