Byrnes returns to workout
Texas Tech center Shawn Byrnes returned to practice Wednesday after missing Tuesday’s workout. Byrnes has been nagged by an apparent ankle or foot injury, and it remains to be seen how much, if any, he’ll be able to contribute in Saturday’s 6 p.m. home game against Texas A&M.

Tech line coach Matt Moore has been pleased with how sophomore Justin Keown has taken over at center and effectively handled communication and calling fronts. Keown, a sophomore with little playing experience before this month, has played virtually all of the last two games against Kansas State and Nebraska.
Meanwhile, tackle Terry McDaniel (knee), nickel back Will Ford (knee) and inside receiver Blake Kelley (knee) worked with the strength and conditioning staff during Wednesday’s practice. All appear to be out for Saturday.
Injured quarterback Steven Sheffield, who had a surgical procedure to repair a broken bone in his left foot, was at Wednesday’s workout. Sheffield was on crutches and in a protective boot.

Great news. For Tech, and for Potts.

How do they repair a broken bone in the foot with a surgical procedure? Either way best of luck to all of those still healing.

Guns up… They repair it by sticking a pin or screw in the bone to help stabilize it and to allow it the support it need to heal. I will suprised if he is back in three weeks. Typically things like this take atleast 4-6 weeks, but I am hoping the best for him.. I know the medical staff there and they will do what needs to be done to get him better. Can’t wait to get into town to see the game and new stadium seats. Go Tech!!!

I just read about the injuries and saw where you guys wrote Blake Kelley was out with an knee injury. What happen and is it serious? Will he be back or is he out for the season? I haven’t read or heard anything about this. I think this kid should be starting ahead of James and even putting pressure on Zou. I know that is my opinion, but what is his status?
