Tech ranked for first time this season
A day after notching its first road win and in convincing fashion, Texas Tech cracked both top 25 polls released Sunday. It’s the first time the Red Raiders have been ranked since the end of last season.
Tech (5-2, 2-1 Big 12 Conference), which won 31-10 at then-No. 15 Nebraska on Saturday for its third straight win, is ranked 21st in The Associated Press Top 25 and 24th in the USA Today coaches poll. The Cornhuskers (4-2, 1-1) dropped out of both rankings.
Tech wasn’t in the first BCS standings released Sunday night.
The Red Raiders host rival Texas A&M (3-3, 0-2) at 6 p.m. Saturday at Jones AT&T Stadium. The Aggies are coming off a 62-14 loss to Kansas State, a team Tech beat 66-14 a week earlier.
Take a good luck at Pittsburgh’s detailed record & tell me why they are ranked above Tech!
A sub-25 team with a ,losing season beat them .

A & M : Lick your chops Red Raiders – Those letters stand for Appitizers and main Menu. Lets see another 60+ whipping of the Aggies. No rilvary here. Just a little bump in the road.

If only we would have finished Houston off and won that game. We’d probably be top 15 right now…
But I expect TTU to beat TAMU and KU at home in the next two weeks. So there’s an outside chance Tech will be top 15 heading into Stillwater to play Oklahoma State. That game will be HUGE (especially if OSU can beat Texas).

Come on! From what I have seen this season, the only competition TECH has left is OU (IF we remain mentally focused). Notice the big IF! TECH must learn to put 4 quality quarters together every game. i.e. K-State
Also, TECH plays better when they are “having fun” out there. They must play relaxed and like they are underdogs every game.
High intensity…no mercy…WRECK ‘EM TECH!!!!!!

So does that mean that finally some network will finally televise the Texas Tech game against the Aggies? Tech has a the Defense now baby!!!! Im pretty happy about this year even with the 2 loses we still kept them both close.

My 9-3 prediction is looking good. While I’m sure Tech could win every game from here on out, I’m afraid we’ll lose one (probably OK or OK State, although I think OK State is overrated).

a couple more things: keep making those huge plays…and
“HAVE A TON OF FUN”

Let’s have a Brandon Carter night on the Halloween night. Everyone should paint there face to look like him. this would lots of fun!!!!!!!

If our Red Raiders take one play at a time and one game at a time, we will have an great season regardless of a silly BSC ranking system which does indeed hate Tech. Clay, Your prediction looks very good right now, which if true will set stage for my prediction
for 2010-2011———- RUN the Table!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonder how TV executives feel now? I’m sure Iowa St at Nebraska will draw a great rating….not! Their big thing was not wanting to televise 2 unranked teams playing. Nice…
A&M at Tech not being televised should make for a great atmosphere at the Jones. All the tailgaters will have to pile into the stadium, should get close to 60k screaming fans. Looking forward to crushing the Aggies.

Ray, your posting time shows 8:03 pm. I just checked, http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/poll?=Harris
to find that Tech is 22 , KU is 21, OK is 25, OK St. is 14 and UT is 3.

Here is the problem, as I see it ,with the rankings. Tech is playing an unranked A&M and #25OU is playing #21 KU. I am thinking that OU will beat KU @KU and we will beat A&M, yet OU will out rank Tech because they will beat an ranked opponent. Then OK St. is playing @Baylor, and OK St. beating Baylor is a lot like Tech beating A&M, but OK St. will get better props. Hopefully Mizzu can pull it off against UT while hosting!

Thanks for noting the time – the new rankings have been the same all day, but BCS ranking shows Wisconsin and Arizona as 37 and 38 (correction not even 31) in the Harris, so thats exactly the problem…

guns up, I am confused on what you’re even talking about right now. That has nothing to do with anything.

The rankings are goofy on so many levels. Oklahoma is actually still ranked rolling .500 on the season, wtf? okstate is a joke and will get exposed soon enough. i think texas is primed for an upset soooon. they have no offense and their luck has to run out. a&m game makes me a little nervous as tech is quite capable of playing down to the level of their competition. turn it up tech!! hang 70 on them, hell kstate damn near did.

BCS rankings are a real joke. TCU who plays no one is a highly ranked team as well as Boise State and a few others. The SEC and The Big Twelve every year have teams that don’t go to bowl games that are better teams playing a tougher schedule.

why is 2 loss ohio state ranked above tech wen they beat nobody but lost to a then 2-5 purdue and a joke of a south cal team. if nu had not been ranked tech would still be ranked around 30th

Great game Raiders!! Stay focused, have fun and crush the Aggies. One game at a time and you will rule the rest of the schedule. Teasippers had better thank their gay lucky stars that we had to play them in Austin, where their own ref’s are close.
You, as a team are making raider nation very proud.
WRECH EM TECH!!!!!!!!

Congrats on the W. We played like crap and have a lot of things to clean up if we still want to win the North and get to be the latest North team to get a beat down in the Championship game. I would agree with the 9/3 pick it looks good to me but will hurt your chances of a great bowl since it would most likely come at home against OU and no way to impress the voters with a bottom feeder for the last opponent. You are better than the bowl you will probably go to. Good luck with the rest of the season. If you can pull off the W at home against OU than you may see us again in the Champ game who knows. Again congrats and good luck!!!

Tceh is still looking up at Texas in the standings! Kudos to Mack Brown and the Horns on beating o-who? Get your Horns up for the Missouri game! HOOK ‘EM HORNS!

Ut fans I am glad you are enjoying you “lofty” ranking. Bama’s 2nd string will kill you as well as Florida, USC, And several others. #3; as usual over-rated. As foe me I am happy our building year team is playing well enough to be ranked. I remember last year, what was the name of that SF receiver who broke your hearts? :-)

Hey fellas-
Just reading your delusional post exposes the low expectations you all have for your team. What is so exciting about being ranked? Consider, it more a benefit of attrition rather than on field accomplishments!!! Seriously, folks big time programs do not get overjoyed just because the are ranked or do they storm the field after beating Rice!!! I hear that storming the field equals extra credit for the Teck student body.

morse code:
get your DELUSIONAL story straight!!! there was no storming the field after Rice. We knew and expected to win that, no one was that excited about Rice. what BIG TIME PROGRAM doesn’t care about ranking, may i ask?
