Tech notes: Dress roster released

Potts
Quarterback Taylor Potts and safety Cody Davis weren’t on the dress roster Texas Tech released Thursday for Saturday’s 6 p.m. home game against Kansas State.
Both got hurt in last week’s game against New Mexico and didn’t practice this week. Steven Sheffield will get his first career start in place of Potts, and Franklin Mitchem could return to the starting lineup at safety for the first time since week two.

Davis
Center Shawn Byrnes and defensive end Daniel Howard were on the dress roster, but both could be considered questionable. Both came out of last week’s game with injuries and missed Tuesday, the first significant practice of the week. Both were back in pads on Wednesday.
Alright Sheffield, here is your chance to show more of your talent. Best of luck big guy. Best healing wishes to Potts and Davis!

Good move. Taylor and Cody need the time to get well. Nothing is more important than their health

Sheffield looked good at the first snap and I wish him the best. I think Potts was more seriously with the helmet hit in Texas than many realized; the NM game just added to it. Glad the o-Line is back with Carter. I realize there are team rules and his outburst was a poor choice. But, the coaching that game was the very worst; especially Leach.
