Potts, Tech offense struggling
Big hits by defensive backs LaRon Moore and Brett Dewhurst broke up New Mexico passes on third and fourth down, giving Texas Tech the ball at its own 42-yard line late in the first quarter. But Taylor Potts gave it right back, throwing his second interception to New Mexico cornerback Nathan Enriquez on an underthrown deep pass to Alex Torres.
Potts is just 5-of-13 passing at this point, and most of his 131 yards came on the first play from scrimmage – a 79-yard completion to Tramain Swindall that set up the game’s only score. The Red Raiders’ offense has gone three straight possessions without adding to the lead.
But Tech still leads 7-0 at we start the fourth quarter, but New Mexico’s offense hasn’t been any better.
