Henley, Mitchem not traveling to Austin
Defensive end Ra’Jon Henley and safety Franklin Mitchem were not on the travel roster Texas Tech released Thursday, meaning the Red Raiders won’t have a couple of regular defensive starters.
Neither practiced this week. Henley has been in a protective boot for an ankle injury, and Mitchem has had his left arm in a sling.
Tech’s depth at defensive end also took another hit Wednesday when Ryan Haliburton suffered an injury, the nature and extent of which were not disclosed. The redshirt freshman from Frenship was a depth option behind starting defensive ends Brandon Sharpe and Daniel Howard, but Haliburton is not on the travel roster.
Defensive tackle Pearlie Graves is on the dress roster for the first time this season, though it remains to be seen whether he will be used. Tech coaches kept Graves off the field the first two games, keeping alive a redshirt possibility for the true freshman from Tulsa, Okla.
Inside receiver Detron Lewis, who suffered a right hamstring injury in last week’s win over Rice, returned to practice Wednesday and is on the travel roster.
Going to Austin with 3 DE’s???? Aye aye aye. Too obvious to say Tech needs to win time of possesion stat.

Looka like a lot of reps for the DE’s, but they will shine.

Pearlie Graves – perfect pirate name. Chance for him to be a impact freshman.
