From ESPN.com's Game for game Picks:

Unfortunately for the Rebels, Texas Tech's offensive line is an equal match. The Raiders lead the nation in fewest tackles for loss allowed, and rank fifth in sacks allowed. Graham Harrell will have enough time to exploit a secondary that can't match up in coverage. The strength of the Big 12 South is the story of the season, and Mike Leach's best team tied for the title. Ole Miss is a solid team, but the Rebs are not equipped to keep pace.

[...] Harrell certainly deserved to be in New York for the award ceremony - he’s one of the most productive passers in NCAA history, after all - but I wasn’t shocked about his snub. The Red Raiders fell completely off the national radar with their 65-21 loss at OU, and for the most part, so did Harrell and Mike Crabtree. If that game had been a win or even a close loss, Harrell would have been in New York and Tech would probably be preparing for its first BCS bowl. [...]

I would be very curious to see how all this would have played out if Tech would have just had a respectable loss to OU. The team lost its composure early... personal fouls in the second quarter from being frustrated by OU. They were never able to challenge OU the entire game. I still believe it was a great season and I'm proud to be a fan, but if you want to be considered the best of the best... you just can't get beat the way Tech got beat.

Of course that wasn't helped by the fact that Tech decided to emerge the season the entire B12 south decided to emerge as well. I could also do without all the whining about it, but to hear that advise from some pos texas fan... that is rich!

Stan Garrett on December 12th, 2008 11:20 am

SAID, "Tim Tebow and the ESPN announcer said it well at the end of the award program in Orlando. Both said Graham Harrell should be there in addition to the three invited. That is respect by the present Heisman winner. We know he Graham Harrell should be there...."

AGREE... ALL THE WAY UP UNTIL THE HEISMAN COMMITEE SAW HOW LITTLE HIS VOTES WERE! LIKE I SAID, IT WOULD HAVE LOOKED RIDICULOUS FOR HIM TO BE THERE. AND FOR HIM TO BE INVITED TO NY LIKE HE HAD A CHANCE. THEY WERE LETTING HIM KNOW EARLY - THAT THIS WAS A 3-MAN RACE.

THINK ABOUT IT - THE 3RD PLACE (TEBOW) HAD MORE 1ST PLACE VOTES THAN ANYONE IN THE HISTORY OF THE HEISMAN! THEN, WHEN YOU REALIZE THAT HE ALSO RECEIVED THE MOST 3RD PLACE VOTES - YOU REALLY REALIZE HOW CLOSE THIS 3-MAN RACE WAS. I LIKE HARRELL - I THINK HE'S AWESOME... BUT I THINK I HAVE MADE MY CASE THAT INVITING HIM TO NY WOULD HAVE BEEN RIDICULOUS!

Can we get off the " Harrell was snubbed idea, please. "

He had a heck-of-a season, he is AWESOME! But, the voters - fro some reason or another - did not vote for him enough to send him to NY. Yes, he was 4th in the voting and sometimes they bring 4 people. But, it was a friggen landslide for the other 3... it would have looked ridiculous for him to be there the way he came in with only 200 something total points. He got pummeled in the total points when the top 3 all had 1500! With his season, he deserved more votes - but with the votes he got - he did not deserve to be there. Can everyone go back to their lives now?

Harrell showed me he deserved to be there for the Heisman when he and the team came back in the second half of the Baylor game and won. Coming off the demoralizing game with OK, being down to Baylor playing very well, the easy thing would of been to quit. Not Harrell and the Tech team. A great comeback.
Great Season TECH and I will be in Dallas to celebrate it.

BCS DECLARES GERMANY WINNER OF WORLD WAR II

US Ranked 4th

After determining the Big-12 championship game participants the BCS computers were put to work on other major contests and today the BCS declared Germany to be the winner of World War II."

Germany put together an incredible number of victories beginning with the annexation of Austria and the Sudetenland and continuing on into conference play with defeats of Poland, France, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands. Their only losses came against the US and Russia; however considering their entire body of work--including an incredibly tough Strength of Schedule--our computers deemed them worthy of the #1 ranking."

Questioned about the #4 ranking of the United States the BCS commissioner stated, "The US only had two major victories-- Japan and Germany. The computer models, unlike humans, aren't influenced by head-to-head contests--they consider each contest to be only a single, equally-weighted event."

German Chancellor Adolph Hiter said "Yes, we lost to the US; but we defeated #2 ranked France in only 6 weeks." Herr Hitler has been criticized for seeking dramatic victories to earn 'style points' to enhance Germany's rankings. Hitler protested "Our contest with Poland was in doubt until the final day and the conditions in Norway were incredibly challenging and demanded the application of additional forces."

The French ranking has also come under scrutiny. The BCS commented, " France had a single loss against Germany and following a preseason #1 ranking they only fell to #2." Japan was ranked #3 with victories including Manchuria, Borneo and the Philippines.
