NFF announces Legacy Awards recipients

The National Football Foundation announced Wednesday that it will present the Legacy Awards to Pac-10 commissioner Tom Hansen, Ivy League executive director Jeffrey Orleans and Big East commissioner Mike Tranghese.

The annual awards dinner, scheduled for Tuesday at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York, will also feature the induction of this year’s College Football Hall of Fame class that includes former Texas Tech end Dave Parks. Parks is among 13 players and two coaches being inducted.

Tech quarterback Graham Harrell will also be recognized as an NFF national scholar athlete and Draddy award finalist.

Tech’s McBath selected to play in Shrine game

Texas Tech senior safety Darcel McBath has accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine game on Jan. 17 at Robertson Stadium in Houston.

McBath was second on the team in total tackles (70) during the regular season and had six interceptions and a forced fumble. His six interceptions is tied for fifth nationally and tied with Baylor linebacker Joe Pawelek for the Big 12 lead.

Did anyone notice the All Big 12 QB selections?

    Harrell
comp/att int pct yds td avg
    406-568 7 71.5 4747 41 395.6

    Bradford

    268-393 6 68.2 4080 46 340.0

Graham did this without all the 5 star atheletes that OU gets in the recruiting process. Not to mention coming out the 2nd half against Baylor with 9 breaks in his left hand with just tape on his fingers to lead the Raiders to another victory. STOIC to say the least. I sincerely hope that the HEISMAN goes to most deserved, not the most publicized. Not to mention that Graham is a 5th year senior that has been thru the wars, Bradford has 2 more chances to establish himself barring injury. Bradford has another Big12 game to play this year and it will be cold in Arrowhead. The All Big 12 selections should be held after the final game of the season and not before, we all know how 1 game can affect a whole body of work.
In speaking of the 3 way tie, the Big 12 should adopt the tie breaking system that is used in round robin baseball tourney’s. The winner is decided by how many runs(pts) given up to common opponents, not by how many they scored. It keeps teams from running up scores and gives credit to the defense, which by last observance, is still part of the game. Or maybe just get the teams coaches that are tied in one room and play PAPER, ROCK,SCISSORS, much the way it was decided this year.

I think what he meant to say is “I’m just concentrating on our bowl game for now, and there will be an announcement on my draft status after that game.”

With the threat of waiting a year and having a cap on rookies salaries I don’t think there is any way in the world Crabtree sticks around one more year. I say he goes pro and we get to hear “Michael Crabtree- Texas Tech University” for the next 12 years when he does introductions. Should help recruiting. Bad part is that he’ll probably end up in Oakland. Al Davis will do everything he can to ruin his career early on. I don’t think Detroit is dumb enough to take yet another QB with their first pick in the draft. Look for them to play it safe and take an OL or LB.

Hey Mike in Mid, maybe YOU think that way but have you and others ever stopped to think that maybe, just maybe, Michael Crabtree has a mind of his own? And that goes for his dad, too. Too many times, parents get too involved in their own children’s future that they influence them to do things they don’t really want to do. This should be Michael’s decision and his only. I wish those of you out there that want to live your lives through Michael would quit trying to push him out the door. He’s got two pretty good legs and can stand on them on his own.

I hear chatter about Texas and Oklahoma ending up in the NC.
Nothing official, but if THAT happens, we have legitimate beef with the BCS…..again.

If OU and UT play in NC, why are we excluded if there was a three way tie in our division? It is too late for Texas to be suddenly moved from #3 to #2. Even if #1 Alabama drops.
1 Alabama to 1 Oklahoma or 1 Oklahoma
2 Oklahoma to 2 Texas or 2 Florida
3 Texas to 3 Florida or 3 Texas
4 Florida to 4 USC or
5 USC to 5 Utah or
6 Utah to 6 Alabama or
7 Texas Tech to 7 Texas Tech or
