“60 Minutes of Hail”
Some folks criticize Coach Leach for letting the Raiders try to score near the end of games when they already lead. Running up the score, they say.
:UT suggests that when the Red Raiders score late to come-from-behind, that really shouldn’t count. The last second score by Crabtree against UT “took a rightful win” away from the Horns. Never mind that Tech dominated statistics and that Texas scored with less than 2 minutes left (should that count according to their “logic?”) and led for only 1:28. And never mind that it was a drive, not one play, that brought the victory. If Crabtree had just caught the ball and gone out of bounds, and Lynwood had kicked a winning field goal with more than 1 second left, it would have still been a win. Just not so dramatic as to let Horns claim it was a fluke.
OU fans say that one of Tech’s scores against them came late, so it was more of a blowout than the scoreboard showed. Never mind that 2 of their scores came late in the first half and another came with a short field after a failed 4th-down try (in an effort to get back in the game rather than to make the score respectable).
So, I guess the question is, should there be an official assigned to decide when the game is over, or should it still be played for 60 minutes (or more if OT is needed)? BTW, aren’t OT games always decided on the last play of the game? If late scores don’t count, eliminate OT.
I say, as Coach Leach seems to believe, “Let the teams continue to play for 60 minutes regardless of the score.” In Tech’s case, that means let the passes fall like hail for 60 minutes. So, when you play Tech, expect “60 MINUTES OF HAIL.” In some regions that’s pronounced “HELL.”

Not so fast “ncforut”! I wouldn’t buy those tickets just yet.
Anyway, regarding the Tech game..I was proud of the way our guys responded in the 2nd half. It wasn’t a pretty win, but I’ll take the victory! This is a much improved Baylor team, hats off to those guys they played their hearts out. Anyway, Tech is 11-1 now! Great season by anyone’s standards.
Wreck ‘em Tech!

Gee, NC for UT, at least I (a Tech fan) can spell the word “barely”!!!!!!…sounds like you still have to get over the Texas loss to Tech…!! Nobody can take that away from Tech! and, yeah, sometimes teams are down and still can rally and make the best of things..Tech has done that, and deserves a lot of support from its fans. I am not a fair-weather fan, like some, and will be rooting for Tech every down, every game. That’s what college sports are all about…… and that’s why Jones stadium was sold out today, despite the loss to OU…we love our Red Raiders, and yeah, we are pretty great this year.

I am proud to be a Red Raider. This group of seniors has restored a great amount of pride at TECH that goes beyond the athletic department. We won 11 games, a share of the Big 12 South championship and the college state championship by whipping A&M, Baylor and Texas. We had a team that played with a great amount of class and a heart every time out.
GUNS UP! I hope Okie State can pull it off tonight.

BOOMSOON, go stick your head where your mouth obviously is, in a cespool. How can you find the nerve to speak down to a lovely lady urging her team on to bigger and better things? She never mentioned your team. You go Jennoifer. Good post.
Oh. I remember, boomsoon. Your school is at the BOTTOM when it comes to inteligence, while Tech has the 6th best graduation rate. Now I understand….you just have no smarts. Pooooorrrr soooooonnnneeeerrrr……………………….

W ell, then I guess you could say yall got beat by a bunch of uninteligent football players at OU, which at the least would make you all a bunch of idiots. GO SOONERS.

Who is this BOOZERSOON clown? Tech’s bowl record under Leach far more impressive. Zero U lost to Boise State with all those 4 star recruits. Stoopes record in the big game is sad. Lost to Tech last two times in Lubbock.. Unlike Tech’s league leading graduation rates in football this year (79%), this clown probably works at a used car dealership with Bomar and the rest of the Zero U players.
Raiders continue to have an outstanding year. The only team in the Big 12 to be bowl eligible since the inception of the Big 12.
Wreck em!!
