Junior forward Jordan Murphree suffered a back injury during Saturday’s practice after Texas Tech’s opening win over Idaho, according to Tammi Hoffman of Tech athletic media relations.

Freshma forward Kierra Mallard will get her first start in place of Murphree. Mallard had 16 points and eight rebounds off the bench Friday night.

Murphree scored 13 points in Friday night’s 90-55 win and had just moved down to the power forward position after playing last year as a guard.
