Lady Raiders’ Roberson suspended for five games

Texas Tech women’s basketball coach Kristy Curry’s roster just got a little smaller for her first five games.
One day after announcing freshman Lindie Kimbro would redshirt for the 2008-09 season, Tech announced forward Ashlee Roberson will not suit out for the first five games due to a suspension.
According to a statement released by Tech athletics, Roberson was suspended for violating team rules and will sit out the two exhibition games on Sunday and Nov. 9 as well as the first three regular season non-conference games, which begin Nov. 14 against Idaho at United Spirit Arena.
Roberson, a 5-foot-11 junior from San Antonio, averaged 4.8 points and 4.5 rebounds in 33 games last year for the Lady Raiders. She started in 11 games.
Curry was not available for comment.
Kimbro and Kaylan Talley are rehabilitating their knees after suffering multiple injuries. Kimbro tore her right anterior cruciate ligament during her junior year in high school and then tore it again her senior year after signing with Tech. Talley, a sophomore who redshirted last year with a torn ACL in her right knee, has suffered another injury, this time to her left knee.
Curry said she hopes to have Talley back by the end of non-conference play.
The first game Roberson could be available for is Nov. 23 against Texas-Arlington. The team then heads to the Virgin Islands Tournament on Nov. 27-29.
