Jones, Sesay in for Henley
Richard Jones and Brandon Sesay are listed 1-2 at weak-side defensive tackle on the Texas Tech depth chart for Saturday’s game against Nebraska.
The two juniors, who are in the regular rotation anyway, will take the place of injured starter Ra’Jon Henley, who won’t suit up Saturday. Henley suffered a knee injury in the first half of last week’s 58-28 victory at Kansas State and didn’t practice this week.
Jones has nine tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery this season. He started the first three games last season. Sesay has been in on three tackles this season.
In addition to Henley, other injured players not on Tech’s dress roster for Saturday are linebacker Blake Collier, cornerback Pete Richardson and running back Aaron Crawford.
Harrell wins national honor
Tech quarterback Graham Harrell has been named the AT&T national player of the week for an unprecedented fourth time – twice last season and twice this season.
Harrell was honored for his performance last week at Kansas State: 454 yards and six touchdowns passing, plus a touchdown rushing.
Harrell secured 39 percent of the fan vote. ESPN nominated Harrell and three other finalists: Illinois quarterback Juice Williams, who got 29 percent of the vote, Army fullback Collin Mooney (22 percent) and North Carolina linebacker Bruce Carter (10 percent).
In brief
Saturday’s homecoming game against Nebraska reached sellout status on Thursday.
