Texas Tech freshman Raony Carvalho was one of 16 tennis players to advance to the singles main draw Wednesday at the ITA All-American Championship in Tulsa, Okla.

In his third-round match of the singles qualifying bracket, Carvalho downed Bartosz Golas of San Diego State, 6-2, 6-3. He will face Virginia’s Sanam Singh at 8 a.m. today in the first round of the singles main draw.

Also, Carvalho and teammate Christian Rojmar will begin doubles action at 5:30 p.m. today against Auburn’s Tim Puetz and Alexey Tsyrenov.
